The club’s punch was a traditional affair straight out of the previous century: black tea, Arrack (a rum-like Indonesian spirit), lemon juice and lemon oil, sugar. And appropriately so – it was British and Dutch sailors and merchants who most likely hit upon ...the idea of combining Arrack with citrus, water and sugar in the 17th century – the punch template.
